- Disadvantaged women and start-ups led by women in an early phase (up to 1 year of creation) that can benefit from the methodology developed by the project
- Unemployed youth and women from disadvantaged areas aged between 16 and 35 who will be sensitized and will be able to use the capitalization results of the project with partners in South Africa or other local organizations participating in the project
- Entrepreneurship and Vocational Training Trainers
- Civil society organizations (CS0s) from the local community that work with women and youth in disadvantaged areas
The EYWA project focuses on strengthening the capacity of national and local civil society organizations in South Africa, particularly women and youth organisations, to commit to gender equality and the inclusion of young people in the labor market
The project aims to improve the employability and economic conditions of young people and women from disadvantaged areas in the Gauteng province of Johannesburg. In this sense EYWA aims to:
- Support entrepreneurship initiatives founded by women and young people
- Develop the capacities of networks of women and youth and encourage their participation in political dialogues, strengthening public-private alliances (PPP) on the socioeconomic situation and economic inclusion of women and youth.
- Support actions aimed at preventing gender violence.
The EYWA project will develop workshops and transversal activities to support civil society organizations in the region to strengthen public-private collaboration,
Additionally, it will carry out the following actions to directly support the beneficiaries:
- Entrepreneurship training for women through specific courses offered by the Johannesburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry,
- Self-employment training for young people in order to work autonomously, coordinated by the Lulalab Foundation.
- Dual Vocational Training (FP) in three specific topics: photovoltaic energy; information technologies for SMEs; and cooking and catering. This training will combine school training and practical training in companies and will be developed in collaboration with the YES institution.
- Finally, the project provides for the award of 50 subsidies to young people and women who have successfully completed the training, so that they can start their business.
The total number of direct beneficiaries of the project is expected to be 400 people and the number of indirect beneficiaries, 600 people. Additionally, at least 15 Civil Society Organizations and 100 collaborating companies will participate in the project to support Dual FP.
- Improve the employability of young people and women from disadvantaged areas with new professional skills.
- Give young people and women the chance to earn a living with their own business and new jobs.
- Strengthen community networks (especially civil society organizations led by youth and women).
